Godaddy Review In Detail
|
Other than being the world’s largest domain name, and the biggest web hosting provider, GoDaddy also provides a variety of other tools or services to its customers for further adding function to their website. The plans offered by this company are mostly ideal for many individuals and also small businesses, as they are affordable, secure, give 99.9% uptime, and a 24/7/365 support service has also been made available for all. However, despite all its advantages, the company has been criticized heavily by many. Let us take a closer look at the pros and cons of GoDaddy.com and then we’ll leave the decision on you.
|
Company Information:
Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA, GoDaddy is an independently owned and operated web services company, which was established in 1997. Having over 6.5 million customers worldwide, GoDaddy is the world’s largest domain registrar. It operates four physically dispersed data centers, equipped better to deal with natural disasters, potential terrorist attacks, and more. The company also features a 24/7, 365 days/year, call center with no outsourcing or off-shoring. Most recently, GoDaddy received the Domainer’s Choice Award for Best Hosting Company 2008, and have also earned many others, previously.
GoDaddy.com Special Features:
- Excellent customer support
- Top quality equipment
- Nearly perfect uptime (99.9%)
- Plenty of free tools with every domain name registration
- Affordable Price
GoDaddy Plans:
- Economy allows 1 domain hosting, with 5 GB space and 250 GB bandwidth, for $3.59.
- Deluxe allows unlimited domain hosting, with 100 GB space and 1000 GB bandwidth, for $6.99.
- Premium allows unlimited domain hosting, with 200 GB space and 2000 GB bandwidth, for $14.99.
Features
According to most of the customer reviews, it has been observed that GoDaddy’s control panel is not that easy to use or even understand, as the company features its own control panel, and not the user friendly cPanel, or plesk, like many other web hosting companies. It also offers cheap windows hosting for Windows+SQL Server+ASP+PHP packages, and does not allow enterprise manager connection for the SQL server, which is not so good, as because of this, one is forced to use Godaddy’s interface for SQL server, which is quite troublesome.
GoDaddy supports languages such as Linux : PHP 5.2.8, PHP 4.4.9, Python, ColdFusion MX 7.0.2, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Perl, Java, FrontPage Server Extensions; and Windows : ColdFusion MX 7.0.2, ASP.net v1.0/2.0/3.5/AJAX, PHP 5.2.5, FrontPage Server Extensions. If someone needs PHP, then the Godaddy Linux hosting is recommended by us, as the Windows hosting has many restrictions for PHP.
Security
While owning, operating, and also supporting its own data centers, GoDaddy features the best routers, firewalls, and servers that run the customer’s website, which are also being monitored continuously. This results in securing the entire data of the customer, supported by physical systems and structures.
Customer Support
The customers can contact the company in case pf any query or problem via the company’s phone support (not a toll-free number), which is functional round the clock, everyday of the year. GoDaddy also answer customer queries through e-mail, known as the support ticket service. The customer support offered by the company is known as the best in the web hosting industry; however, phone support may put the customer on a longer hold.
Price Value
Starting form $3.45/ month, GoDaddy offers some of the cheapest rates in the hosting industry, while presenting excellent value for money. However, the company’s Premium plan may seem a bit pricey to most. But then again, it also enables the customer to benefit from its various services and tools.
Conclusion:
No doubt the company had been recommended for individual webmasters and also for small businesses, but as from where we see it, we would suggest Godaddy.com particularly to professional and serious webmasters, who are in this business for quite some time now, as it would not be difficult to understand and take full use of this web hosting company; whereas, a new webmaster, or someone who is a fresh to this business, might not be able to cope with it well. For new comers, we would recommend some other we host, like HostGator, or BlueHost. On the whole, GoDaddy is among the top performers, and provides uptime that is better than industry standard. In addition to offering web hosting services, GoDaddy also services for the customer’s website, such as forums, blogs, a free shopping cart, with available e-commerce solutions, including merchant accounts and the Quick Shopping Cart. One can also upload his/her photos on his GoDaddy.com website.
GoDaddy may seem a bit crowded and overloaded with unnecessary stuff and information, but it is still a very good web hosting company, comprising of some of the best features and tools. It is a complete yes form us!
